At Power Pickleball Club, we believe in the power of community, both on and off the court. That’s why we’re excited to combine our love for pickleball with a cause close to our hearts during our Grand Opening Tournament, the Spokane Slam. From September 19-22, pickleball enthusiasts from around the region will gather at our state-of-the-art facility to compete, connect, and celebrate the launch of Spokane’s premier pickleball hub.
But this isn’t just another tournament. On Saturday, September 21, we’re hosting Rally in the Valley, a special event dedicated to raising funds for Matt’s Place Foundation, an incredible organization that supports those affected by ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). By participating in this event, you’re not only enjoying the sport you love; you’re also helping to make a real difference in the lives of people battling this challenging disease.
About Matt’s Place Foundation
Matt’s Place Foundation was founded to provide much-needed support to individuals and families facing ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to loss of muscle control and, eventually, paralysis. Unfortunately, there is no cure for ALS, and the disease’s progression can be both rapid and devastating.
Matt’s Place Foundation works tirelessly to improve the quality of life for those living with ALS by providing accessible housing solutions, support services, and resources for patients and their families. One of the foundation’s key initiatives is building ALS-accessible homes equipped with the latest technology to help patients maintain independence and dignity as they navigate the challenges of this disease. By participating in Rally in the Valley, you’re directly contributing to these life-changing efforts.
Rally in the Valley: Team Up for a Cause
Rally in the Valley on September 21 is the centerpiece of our fundraising efforts for Matt’s Place Foundation. This unique event features a team-based competition where 4-person teams (men or women, with women welcome to join men’s teams) will face off in an exciting day of pickleball. The format includes pool play followed by a bracket, guaranteeing each player at least seven games. This means plenty of action, strategy, and opportunities to test your skills against other teams.
All registration profits from Rally in the Valley will be donated to Matt’s Place Foundation, so your participation goes beyond the court—it’s a chance to give back and support a worthy cause. In addition to contributing to a great mission, teams will compete for prizes and medals, adding a splash of extra excitement to the competition.
The event is also DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) reported, allowing your games to count toward your competitive ranking. This is a fantastic opportunity to not only support ALS patients and their families but also to improve your pickleball skills and ranking in a fun, competitive environment.
